The Geneva School of Boerne baseball team has started off April with a couple of run-rule district wins, both at home and both against schools named John Paul II.
Geneva defeated Corpus Christi JP II Tuesday and then knocked off Schertz JP II Wednesday.
The Eagles are 13-6 overall and 3-1 in district. They won’t play again until Tuesday at Corpus Christi Incarnate Word.
Vs. Schertz JP II
Geneva took Wednesday’s contest 13-3 in five innings.
The Eagles were leading 4-0 at the end of one but the Schertz school answered with 3 runs in the top of the third and the lead was down to a run at 4-3.
Geneva broke it open with 6 runs in the bottom of the third to make it 10-3. The Eagles added another run in the fourth and 2 more in the fifth to kick in the mercy rule.
Cannon Menn and Shawn George both tripled and George also legged out a double. Menn picked up an RBI and scored 3 runs, while George drove in 2 runs and crossed home plate once.
Rooster Jons pushed in 2 runs and took a walk, Grant Roberson collected 2 RBI and walked once, Colton Lutz singled, picked up an RBI and scored, Jake Roberson walked and scored twice, Gray Bruner plated a run, Brady Chandler singled, drove in 2 runs and scored a run and Bryce Hanover was walked 2 times, had an RBI and scored a run.
George picked up the win on the bump and gave up 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and fanned 7.
Vs. CC JP II
Geneva won 11-1 in four in a half innings in Tuesday’s game at home.
The Eagles pulled away early by scoring 8 runs in the second inning. They added another run in the third and 2 in the fourth, while the Centurions scored their only run in the top of the fourth.
Jake Roberson pitched a great game for the Eagles and only gave up 1 hit and struck out 12, while not giving up a walk.
Geneva picked up 6 hits, including a triple from Grant Roberson, while Gray Bruner and Shaw George doubled.
Roberson drove in a run, Bruner also walked and scored 2 runs and George crossed home plate once.
Rooster Jons hit 3 singles and drove in 3 runs, Brady Chandler scored twice and pushed in a run and Bryce Hanover walked twice, drove in a run and score once.
