Charger track and field team warms up for district meet

SAN ANTONIO — In preparation for this week’s District 26-5A track meet, the Chargers were at the Northeast ISD Relays held March 21 at Heroes Stadium.

This year’s district meet is set for Wednesday — Thursday at New Braunfels Canyon.

Varsity Boys

Zachary Garcia placed 6th in the 100 dash in 11.27, Caleb Dehart was 7th in the 400 with a time of 52.56, while Luis Tovar and Dehart went 2nd and 3rd in the 800 after Tovar clocked in at 1:55 and Dehart came in at 1:58.

Charlie Houck won the 3200 after he posted a 9:37, Luke Grametbauer finished 4th with a 10:04 and Robert Wegleitner was 10th in the 110 hurdles with a 17.44 and was 8th in the 300 hurdles after clocking in at 44.15.

Champion’s 4x100 relay finished 3rd with a time of 42.64 and the 4x200 took 1st after posting a 1:28.58 to edge the Reagan team that came in with a 1:29.96 for second.

Briggs Jones won the high jump after clearing 6-2, Wegleitner was 5th after he went 5-8 and Corbin Buchanan tied for 7th after going 5-6.

Hayden Brace took 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 22-04.75 and Brace won the triple jump with a mark of 45-02.

In the pole vault, Landon Kolacny was 2nd at 14-6, Luke Rossi tied for 3rd at 13-6 and Brooks Jones was 6th at 13-0.

In the discus, Riley Wampler finished 2nd with a throw of 150-02 and Nico Lopez finished 6th with a toss of 131-08.

Lopez and Wampler went 1-2 in the shot put after Lopez had a toss of 48-9.75 and Wampler went 48-2.

Varsity Girls

In the 100 dash, Madison Meinke and Juliana Syroney went 5-6 with times of 12.98 and 13.18, while Meinke posted a 27.08 in the 200 for 5th.

Elizabeth Leachman was 3rd in the 400 with a time of 1:02 and Savannah Wayment was 4th in 1:03.07 and Mikayla Green came in 6th in the race after posting a 1:03.78.

Leachman set a new meet record in the 800 with a time of 2:10, Emma Rice was second at 2:25 and Michelle Cerna was 5th in 2:29.

Kynley Albright placed 2nd in the 3200 with a time of 11:37, Luciana Zazueta Ibarra came in 7th at 12:12 and Brenna Hempton clocked in at 12:26 for 8th.

Ella Bachman placed 5th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.13 and Bachman came in 6th in the 300 after posting a 50.97. The 4x200 relay team finished 2nd in 50.04 and the 4x200 was 3rd in 1:49.

Erin Martin took 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 17-11.75, Lauren Ball was 4th in 17-04.75 and Macy O’Dell placed 10th with a mark of 16-05.

Grace Mondini finished 9th in the triple jump with a measurement of 33-09.25 and Ball was 11th at 33-0.

Peyton Smith won the pole vault after she cleared 12-0 and Vivian Cardenas came in 7th at 8-6.

Champion had three place in the discus after Cameron Wampler, Hailee Goodwin and Lorena Barreiro-Bidot went 3-4-5 in the event after Wampler had a toss of 94-6, Goodwin went 94-02 and Barreiro-Bidot had a mark of 92-09.

Goodwin took 2nd in the shot put with a heave of 33-06.25 and Barreiro-Bidot was 4th in 32-02.75.
