BOERNE — Fabra Elementary School fifth grade teacher Sydney Lenard has been named the 2024 Rookie Teacher of the Year for the Boerne Independent School District.

And Champion High School principal’s secretary Bridget Brown has been named 2024 Support Staff Member of the Year, both announcements made during the district’s March 25 board of trustees meeting.

Lenard is in her third year as a fifth grade math and science teacher at Fabra, which is her first teaching job. She grew up in Boerne, attending Boerne Middle School North and graduating from Champion.

She graduated from Texas A&M University, where she majored in elementary education.

Brown is in her second year as the principal’s secretary at Champion. In her 30-plus year education career, she was twice named the Georgia State Teacher of the Year, in 1998 and 2016.

Prior to joining Boerne ISD, she served as a principal, assistant principal, and instructional coach.

Both winners will receive additional stipends from the district for their honors.
