The Charger softball team closed out the first round of district play Tuesday at Seguin and suffered a 14-0 setback.
They kicked off the second round Thursday at Wagner and rebounded with an 11-4 victory. Champion is 10-9-2 overall and is 4-4 in district.

In Tuesday’s game, the Chargers struggled on offense and defense and were held to 1 hit and committed 6 errors.
Abby Brehmer singled on a line drive to centerfield in the fourth and that was Champion’s only hit of the game.
Brehmer also walked, while Alison Kory and Lillian Ritchie both walked to account for Champion’s only other base runners of the game.
Seguin scored 4 runs in the first, blew it open in the second with 8 runs and then added 2 more in the third for its 14 runs.
The Matadors didn’t score in the fourth and didn’t have to bat in the bottom of the fifth after the game was called after 4.5 innings because of the mercy rule.
Mylie Parker and Ritchie both pitched an inning, while Brehmer went 2 frames in the circle.
Only 7 of Seguin’s 14 runs were earned.
