The Comfort baseball team dropped its second district game in a row via the run rule after the Bobcats were defeated by Ingram on Monday, 11-1.
Comfort is 1-2 in district and 15-5 overall. They hosted Brady Thursday and play Llano Monday to close out the first round of district.
After last Friday’s loss to Blanco (13-1), the Cats were looking to bounce back at Ingram but the Warriors handed them their second straight run rule defeat.
Comfort’s lone district win was also a run rule decision against Florence (12-2).
Ingram plated 4 runs in the first and another in the second for the 5-0 lead. The Warriors added 2 more runs in the fourth to open up a 7-0 advantage before the Cats scratched for a run.
In the top of the fifth, Comfort scored after Tucker Rust walked, moved to second on a fielder’s choice and made it home on a two-out single by Mason West to make it 7-1.
Ingram fired back with 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth to end it at 11-1.
West had an RBI single and Luke Bohnert singled to record the only two hits in the game for the Bobcats and Rust scored their only run.
Micah Nye started on the hill for Comfort and went 4.1 innings and yielded 5 hits, 5 walks and fanned 4. Evan Valadez finished out the game on the hill.
Warriors pitcher Maverick Delgado was solid and only gave up 2 hits, 1 run and 2 walks to go with 9 Ks.
