A former Comfort Independent School District high school coach remained behind bars Friday charged with three counts of improper relations between an educator and a student, according to investigators.
Tye Rexrode, 38, who resigned in February as an assistant baseball coach and history teacher at Comfort High School, was arrested Thursday, according to officials.
“After a detailed investigation investigators determined that the educator ... had a sexual relationship with a student on multiple occasions,” read a statement issued by the Kendall County Sheriff s Office.
Bond for Rexrode, who is being held in the Kendall County Detention Center in Boerne, has been set at $ 1.2 million $400,000 on each count, according to court records.
A sheriff’s spokesman said Comfort ISD sent a letter to parents in early February that the administration was “looking into allegations of an ‘inappropriate relationship’ between a teacher and student” at the high school.
The arrest affidavit alleges an educator met a student at a hotel on several occasions in December and January “to engage in sexual activity.” Contact between the teacher and the student continued until Feb. 2 when the educator was placed on administrative leave and the probe started, investigators said.
The inquiry widened after authorities said they discovered the educator was “communicating inappropriately” with female students on a social-media platform.
The Sheriffs Office spokesman said the investigation is continuing.
“Investigators are still trying to determine if there are additional victims,” officials noted in the announcement.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the sheriffs Criminal Investigation Division at 830-249-9721.
