Holy Cross rallied past the Geneva School of Boerne baseball team last Thursday and edged the Eagles by a run, 6-5.
Geneva drops to 11-5 overall and is off until Thursday when they play the San Antonio Wolverines.
The Eagles were leading Thursday’s game 5-2 but the Knights answered with the final 4 runs of the game to win it.
Holy Cross jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Eagles answered in the top of the second to tie it up at 2-2.
Geneva had a big inning in the third with three runs and bumped its lead to 5-2, but couldn’t score after that.
The Knights plated a run in the bottom of the third and trimmed the Geneva advantage to 5-3 and it stayed that way until the fifth.
Holy Cross had its best inning of the game and produced 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead, 6-5.
A couple of walks, followed by a single and a Geneva error allowed the Knights to score its 3 runs in the fifth.
Geneva outhit the Knights, 6-5, but Holy Cross still won by a run.
Shawn George collected 2 of Geneva’s 6 hits and he also scored once and pushed in a run. Colton Lutz doubled, walked, picked up an RBI and scored a run, Cannon Menn singled, walked and plated a run, while Gray Bruner and Brady Chandler both singled and TJ Cross picked up an RBI.
Jake Roberson tossed four innings and gave up 4 hits, 4 earned runs, 5 walks and struck out 6, while Menn tossed 2 frames and yielded a hit and a run, with no walks and 3 strikeouts.
