Blanco baseball beats up Bobcats

Comfort was held to one run during last Friday’s district baseball game against archrival Blanco.

It was Comfort’s lowest offensive output of the season as they fell to the Panthers, 13-1, in five innings.

The Bobcats are 1-1 in district and is 12-4 overall. They continued league play Monday at Ingram and host Brady Thursday.

Blanco took control right away last Friday and scored 4 runs in the first and added 6 more runs in the second for the 10-0 lead after two frames.

The Panthers plated 2 more runs in the third inning and another in the fourth for the 13-0 advantage before Comfort could get on the board.

In the bottom of the fourth, Mason Matt walked to start the inning, and then with two outs, moved to third on a single by Trace Weber to move Matt to third.

From there, Noah Bohnert singled to left to score Matt and Comfort was on the board at 13-1, but couldn’t score after that.

The next CHS batter struck out to send it to the fifth. After Blanco didn’t score in the inning, it went to the bottom of the fifth where the Cats went down in order with a strike out, ground out and fly ball to end it after the mercy rule kicked in.

Comfort finished with 5 hits and also committed 6 errors.

Matt walked and scored their only run and Bohnert finished with 2 hits and an RBI, while Mason West, Weber and Tucker Rust all singled.

Rust went 1.2 innings on the hill and gave up 5 hits, 5 earned runs and 4 walks to go with 3 strikeouts. Mason Matter tossed 3.1 innings, yielded 5 hits, 2 earned runs, walked 1 and fanned 2.
