BHS batters smack the ball around vs. Wolves

The Boerne High batters knocked the ball around pretty good during Tuesday’s district baseball game at Davenport.

BHS finished with 12 hits against the Wolves, including a home run and four doubles and the result was a 15-9 victory to stay unbeaten in district.

Boerne is 14-5 overall and 4-0 in district. The Greyhounds hosted Wimberley Friday to close out the first round of district and then play Bandera in two games next week, Tuesday at home and Thursday in Bulldog country.

After a 0-0 first frame, Boerne took charge with a five-run second inning and never trailed from there.

Grant Tamplet singled in the inning to bring in a pair of runs and later Dylan Perez homered to right field and pushed in 3 runs for the 5-0 lead.

The Boerne bats were just getting warmed up after the Greyhounds closed out the game by scoring 10 of their runs in their final four at bats and 3s were wild for BHS after they scored 3 in the fourth, sixth and seventh frames.

Davenport scored in bunches as well but were limited to 9 runs. The Wolves tallied 2 runs in the second, 3 in the fourth and 4 in the sixth behind 7 hits.

The bottom third of Boerne’s line up produced after Brooks Perez, Hutson Hendrix and Tamplet combined for 6 of their 12 hits, with 2 each.

Brooks Perez doubled and singled, scored twice and pushed in 2 runs, Hendrix hit 2 singles, was hit by a pitch and scored twice, while Tamplet finished with 2 singles, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Hudson McNew, Jace Preston and Reese House all doubled for the Hounds. McNew drove in a run, Preston picked up 2 RBI and House also took 2 walks, picked up 2 RBI and scored 2 runs.

Dylan Perez added a single to his homer, picked up all 3 of his RBI on one swing and scored twice, Ryan Hooper hit 2 singles and plated a run, while Walker Hill took 2 walks and scored twice.

Campbell Jackson went 5 innings on the hill and picked up the win. Jackson scattered 4 hits, didn’t give up an earned run, walked 2 and struck out 3.

Dylan Perez and Tanner Tuschinski both tossed an inning with Perez yielding 3 hits, 3 earned runs, 3 walks and he fanned one.

Tuschinski faced 3 batters and didn’t yield a hit, run or walk and sat down one.
