Dave Neighbor recently announced he is a Republican candidate for the Precinct 2 justice of the peace position.

Neighbor describes himself as a patriot, a conservative and a Republican and said he is a man of integrity, leadership, clarity, courage and strength.

“I am a strong supporter of the rule of law under the Constitution, law enforcement and our court system,” he said. “I am a native Texan with Texas values which are respect for life, families, property, law and order and liberty.”

Neighbor and his wife, Linda, have been married 46 years and have lived in Boerne since 2012. Prior to the move to Boerne, he spent more than 20 years abroad in both U.S. government and ministry service. He said he has been in more than 80 countries and has learned several languages.

“I have a track record of serving my community in a variety of capacities: teaching, mentoring and leading,” he said. “I’ve also served as an elder in several churches over decades as a mentor to young men and currently am an elder in Boerne’s Currey Creek Church.”

The Neighbors have two adult children, a married daughter who is a university professor and who founded and leads a consulting company as well as a married son, a former Marine with prior service in Iraq.

Neighbor served in the U.S. Marine Corps before completing a bachelor of science degree and later completed a three-year Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He and his wife worked in full-time ministry for seven years planting a church among Muslims and communists in the former Yugoslavia and taught for five years on the undergraduate level in the U.S. and in the former Yugoslavia. He said he also did post-graduate work at the University of Zagreb and Stanford University, as well as at other institutions.

After leaving full-time ministry, Neighbor said he joined the Central Intelligence Agency’s Clandestine Service and retired from there in 2006 as a senior operations officer. He served in multiple countries as the senior U.S. intelligence officer and served in six wars, including one while in the Marine Corps.

Since 2006, Neighbor said he has worked as a consultant to the U.S. Intelligence Community and Department of Defense as well as to several federal, state and local law enforcement agencies during which time he was badged as a police officer and served with a federal task force targeting human traffickers.

He said he is the vice chairman on the board of directors of a U.S.-based nonprofit organization assisting foreign law enforcement agencies, working in tandem with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to fight human trafficking in their countries.

Neighbor said he also served two, two-year terms as president of the board of directors of the River Mountain Ranch Property Owners Association (RMRPOA) in Kendall County. He worked with local and state level officials to find workable solutions to challenging problems faced by RMR residents.

“I bring decades of public service, wisdom and clarity to my duties and will faithfully execute them as your justice of the peace in Precinct 2,” Neighbor said. “I ask for your vote for the honor of serving as your next justice of the peace for Precinct 2.”
