Geneva School of Boerne hosted Corpus Christi Incarnate Word Tuesday afternoon in Boerne for a district softball game and came up short against the Angels, 20-4 in four innings.
The Eagles slipped to 1-7 and played Holy Cross Thursday. For more on that game, see the Star.
Geneva coach Tim Millage said the goal is to improve with each contest.
“We will continue to get better with these tough district games,” he said.
The Angels took control early with 8 runs in its first at bat. The Corpus Christi school added 4 more in the second, 3 in the third and 5 more in the fourth and finished the game with 13 hits.
Geneva recorded 6 hits and tallied a single run in the first, 2 in the second, one more in the third and didn’t score in the fourth frame.
Geneva’s run in the bottom of the first came via a home run by Madeline Egbert, who hit a solo shot over the centerfield fence.
Emily Coultress hit two doubles and drove in a run, while Maegan Riebel doubled and picked up 2 RBI in the second inning.
Egbert started in the circle and was replaced by Hartlee Menn in the second frame to close out the game.
