BOERNE — Nick Nuth, staunch conservative and small-town devotee, announced his candidacy for Boerne City Council District 5.
Voters can choose early voting April 22-30 or go to the polls May 4 on Election Day.
“I am dismayed by the rampant urban sprawl and blatant disregard for natural resources taking place in our backyard,” Nuth said. “The current rate of development is not sustainable. It will degrade small-town culture and forever ruin our bucolic countryside. I aim to prevent that from happening.”
Nuth said he has witnessed the disastrous effects of urban sprawl, high-density housing and cronyism firsthand.
“The portion of a population that is most vulnerable is also the most affected by the resultant scarcity of resources, litter, lawlessness and ruin. People get blindsided,” he said. “We must have foresight and fortitude to act meaningfully so the Hill Country doesn’t go the way of the buffalo.”
Until recently, Nuth was president and owner of Allen Power, electrical equipment manufacturers’ sales representative and solutions provider.
Every year of his tenure, Nuth successfully led a team of salaried employees to consecutive years of record revenue.
“As a manufacturers’ representative, it’s critically important to maintain a balance between customer and manufacturer advocacy,” he said. “My team became increasingly good at this due to our commitment to three cornerstones: communication, accountability and integrity. I believe every member at every level of government should honor this same commitment.”
Nuth and his high school sweetheart, Kendra, have been married for 15 years. Their three sons, ages 12, 9 and 5, attend and thrive in Boerne public schools.
“I am especially grateful for BISD staff. They foster a traditional, effective learning environment, which is what attracted us to Boerne in the first place,” he said.
