The Comfort baseball team picked up a pair of lopsided wins to close out spring break last week.
Comfort played IDEA South Flores and defeated the Owls, 18-1 and 17-0 in doubleheader action to close out non-district action.
The Bobcats are 11-3 overall and are home for two this week. They opened district at home Tuesday against Florence and host Blanco Friday.
Comfort 18, IDEA South Flores 1
Comfort scored 11 runs in the first inning, added 6 in the second and scored another in the third.
The Bobcats finished with 10 hits, 18 RBI, took 9 walks and took advantage of 5 Owls errors.
Luke Bohnert led the way with 3 singles, Micah Nye added 2 hits, while Brooks Davis, Mason Matt, Marcus Zarate, Tucker Rust and Noah Bohnert all singled.
Mason West took 2 walks and scored 3 runs, Davis scored 3 runs, Matt drove in 4 runs and scored twice, Hays Hallmark plated a run, Nye collected 4 RBI and scored 2 runs, Zarate pushed in a run, Luke Bohnert walked, picked up 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Rust walked, scored and pushed in a run, Noah Bohnert drove in 2 runs and scored once, Cade Woerner took 2 walks and scored 2 runs and Trace Weber walked and scored.
Rust picked up the win in three innings of work and didn’t give up a hit, the run scored was unearned, while Rust walked 4 and struck out 9.
Comfort 17, IDEA South Flores 0
The second game played out much like the first after the Bobcats won 17-0.
Comfort finished with 12 hits, picked up 14 RBI and took advantage of 6 walks.
In this game, CHS came up with 4 hits that went for extra bases after Luke Bohnert tripled and doubled, while Mason Matt and Tucker Rust both doubled.
Bohnert collected 5 RBI and scored a run, Rust scored 2 runs and Matt pushed in 4 runs, added 2 singles to his double and scored 3 runs.
Mason West walked and scored, Brooks Davis hit 2 singles, drove in a run and scored 3 runs, Micah Nye singled and picked up an RBI, Marcus Zarate walked twice and scored 2 runs, Evan Valadez singled, scored and pushed in a run, Mason Matter singled, pushed in a run and scored twice, while Trace Weber singled, drove in a run and scored 2 runs.
Nye went the distance on the mound and earned the win on 61 pitches. He tossed a no hitter, walked 4 and fanned 3 batters.
