The Comfort softball team had a rough start to district action after the Deer dropped their first two in league play, falling to Brady, 15-0, and to Llano, 17-3.

Comfort is 2-10 overall and 0-2 in district. The Deer are off until Tuesday, March 19, when they host Florence.

Vs. Brady

CHS fell to the Lady Bulldogs, 15-0, in three innings.

The Deer didn’t manage a hit in the game against Gracie Galindo, who went all three innings in the circle for Brady and struck out 8, while walking 2.

Katie Haffner and Kippy Sterling both walked in the game and Ella Thiele reached on an error for Comfort’s only three base runners.

Lilly Bates pitched for Comfort and gave up 9 hits and struck out 5.

Vs. Llano

Llano had a fast start and scored 10 runs in the first frame to take control. They added 3 in the second, 3 in the fourth and another in the fifth.

Comfort scored single runs in the second, third and fifth in the 17-3 defeat.

The Deer had 8 hits in the game but only scored 3 runs. Katie Haffner and Kippy Sterling both recorded 2 hits apiece, while Ella Thiele, Faith Diaz de Villegas, Kaydence Stehling and Jordan Judkins all knocked out 1 hit.

Thiele, Diaz de Villegas and Judkins all scored runs.

Thiele and Lilly Bates both pitched in the game for the Deer. Thiele struck out 5 in 5 innings and Bates fanned 1 and faced 7 batters.
