The Geneva School of Boerne baseball team picked up a walk-off win over St. Michael’s in nine innings last week.
With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, Geneva’s Shawn George singled to bring in the winning run and give the Eagles the 11-10 victory.
With Friday’s win in Boerne, Geneva improves to 10-4 this year. The Eagles were off for spring break and won’t play again until they host Corpus Christi Incarnate Word Tuesday.
Geneva was scheduled to play Comfort during the break but that game was called off.
Last Friday’s contest had nine ties or lead changes before the Eagles took the lead for the final time to make it 10 ties or lead changes.
In the bottom of the ninth, the first Eagles batter struck out but the next batter at the plate, Cannon Menn, was hit by a pitch. Menn moved to second after Rooster Jons walked.
Grant Roberson singled to move Menn to third, Jones to second and load the bases and only one out. With the bases juiced, Shawn George singled to left to bring in Menn and end it.
St. Michael’s finished with 10 hits and the Eagles had 9 base knocks.
TJ Cross doubled, drove in 3 runs and scored once, Menn hit 2 singles and scored 3 runs including the game winner, Grant Roberson hit 3 singles, walked twice and picked up an RBI, Shawn George hit 2 singles, drove in 2 runs including the game winner and scored a run.
Jons singled, Gray Bruner and Josh Patteson scored 2 runs each, while Bryce Hanover and Harris Priesmeyer both crossed home plate once.
George went 4 innings and gave up 6 hits, 6 runs, 6 walks and struck out 6.
Menn entered in relief and tossed the final 5 frames and picked up the win. He gave up 4 hits, 1 earned run, didn’t walk a batter and fanned 7.
