"Eclipse Edition” coming March 24

"Eclipse Edition” coming March 24

In three weeks, thousands of visitors are expected to descend upon the Texas Hill Country, just to spend four minutes in the dark.

The April 8 total solar eclipse has been on the radar of Boerne city officials, business owners and hotel managers since pre-planning meetings began in 2021.

In our Sunday, March 24 edition, the Boerne Star will bring you its “Eyes To The Skies” section of “everything you need to know about the eclipse but didn’t know who to ask.”

Teaming with sister publication The Bandera Bulletin, The Star will present informative pieces from the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce, Boerne Police Chief Steve Perez, local astronomer Jack Estes, and the Banders Convention and Visitor Bureau.

You’ll also receive a rundown on “Where To Go To Party like It’s Midnight” — a reference to the four minutes of darkness that will take over Hill Country skies from 1:32-1:36 p.m.

Where do you need to go? What do businesses need to do to prepare? When do you need your glasses, and when can you take them off? What do you need to do if you encounter problems while out and about? And how much does the remaining hotel room cost per night?

You’ll get the answers to these questions — and more — in the Sunday, March 24 Boerne Star.
