BOERNE — BISD students performed above state and regional averages on the most recent STAAR exam, Boerne Independent School District official stated.
The score notations were part of the Boerne ISD’s 2022-23 Texas Academic Performance Report released at its Feb. 26 board meeting.
There are three performance levels for each STAAR exam: Approaches Grade Level, Meets Grade Level and Masters Grade Level.
For Boerne, 91% of its students scored at the “Approaches” level or above, while 72% scored at the “Meets” level or above, and 37% hit the “Masters” mark.
For math, students in third grade through Algebra 1 take the STAAR assessment. BISD students scored nearly 18% higher than the region and state averages.
For reading, with testing given to students in third grade through English 2, 16% of Boerne students scored above the region and state averages.
In its press release, Boerne ISD said its near-perfect 99% graduation rate for the class of 2021 and 2022 is 11% higher than the Region 20 average and nearly 10% higher than the state average.
In addition, BISD students rank above the region and state in College, Career, and Military Readiness programming.
As part of CCMR, 42% of students participated in Advanced Placement exams, with 71% of those students earning a passing score. BISD also logged a 94.5% attendance rate in 2021-2022.
The district’s bilingual and emerging bilingual students also showed great increases on their average on all STAAR exams, with 68% “Approaches” or above, 43% at the “Meets” level or above, and 21% at “Masters.”
