AUSTIN — Champion High School student films won state medals at the 2024 UIL Young Filmmakers Festival in Austin.

Emma Barraza won the state championship in the Traditional Animation Category with her film, “Lost and Found.” This is the second year in a row the Chargers have had a state film champion, with Caroline Cabral winning gold in 2023.

The Digital Animation, “Soul Bound,” by Freya Stromsness, earned a state silver medal, while “Distress Call” by Devin Jensen, Chris Harris, and Tanner Charlton, earned a state bronze medal in the Traditional Animation category. Six Champion and Boerne high school student films qualified for the state finals.

More than 700 entries statewide competed in Digital Animation, Traditional Animation, Narrative, and Documentary, with only the top six from each category advancing to the finals.
