There’s a new disc golf course in town and it’s open to everyone and free to play. The course is located at Joshua Springs Park and Preserve located between Boerne and Comfort at 716 FM 289 (exit 533 on I-10).
This highly rated nine-hole course is great for beginners and experienced disc golfers. Conveniently placed signs guide you from one hole to the next. You can also follow along using UDisc, the go-to mobile app for disc golfers. Discs are available to borrow at the park office near the main entrance.
Hole No. 1 begins across the road from the main parking lot near the restrooms and playground. The concrete tee pads and bright yellow DIS-Catcher Pro baskets mark the start and end points for each hole. This scenic course weaves through a combination of open fairways and densely wooded areas.
Be on the lookout for diverse wildlife including deer and jackrabbits. Hole No. 9 conveniently ends up back at the main parking lot.
The 365-acre Joshua Springs Park and Preserve has miles of hiking and biking trails, gorgeous views, and a lake for kayaking and fishing. It’s dog friendly and open 365 days a year. Other amenities include clean restrooms, a playground, drinking fountains, picnic areas, wildlife observation blinds, and a 2-acre dog park.
Joshua Springs Disc Golf Course was created through a collaboration between volunteers and the Kendall County Parks Department. An additional nine holes are in the early stages of planning.
