The Boerne High softball team was a bit shorthanded Tuesday and struggled against visiting Jourdanton at Greyhound Field.

Jourdanton run ruled the Lady Greyhounds, 15-4, in five innings behind 15 hits.

BHS is 10-11-1 overall and visited Hondo Friday.

A couple of Boerne’s top hitters were sitting out to make sure they’ll be ready for their district opener March 15 against Bandera.

Because of that, BHS only managed 3 hits Tuesday, doubles from Riley Partin and Emma Wright, along with a single from Maddie Vasquez.

Jourdanton scored 3 runs in each of the first two innings, another 2 in the third and 4 more in the fourth for the 12-0 lead before Boerne could get on the board with a single run in the bottom of the frame to make it 12-1.

Jourdanton plated 3 more in the top of the fifth and then Boerne answered with 3 in the bottom half of the inning but needed 2 more runs to keep the mercy rule from kicking in but wasn’t able to score anymore at that point.

BHS was patient and took 8 walks in the game but struck out 11 times to Indians pitcher Hailey Sralik.

Partin, Ryleigh Hastings, Cerissa Nasis and Vasquez all scored once, Brooklynn Thomason picked up 2 RBI, while Vasquez and Wright drove in 1 run apiece.

Jesseanna Aguirre went all 5 innings and struck out 2.
