Champion softball falls to Matadors in extra innings

Seguin and Champion battled through seven ties or lead changes before the Matadors softball team scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Chargers, 7-6.

Champion slips to 8-5-1 overall and 4-2 in 26-5A. It has three games this week and hosts Tivy on Tuesday, visits Buda Johnson Friday to close out the first round and begins the second round on Saturday at NB Canyon.

Seguin scored first in Thursday’s game and pulled ahead 3-0 before the Chargers got on the board in the fourth after Carmen Vela singled and Krista Tarver doubled to bring in Vela and make it 3-1.
