BOERNE — Tickets are on sale for “Corks and Compassion,” a fundraising event March 21 for the Hill Country chapter of the American Red Cross.
“Corks and Compassion” will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Richter Cork and Keg, a speakeasy-inspired wine and beer bar with a hint of 1920s bootlegging intrigue. The Cork and Keg is tucked away below Richter Tavern, home to the oldest bar in the Texas Hill Country.
Richter Boerne is at 153 S. Main St. in historic downtown Boerne on the Hill Country Mile.
Attendees will sample from over 15 different wines, along with hearty appetizers sponsored by Sysco and prepared by Richter Boerne’s executive chef Frank Ramirez. A silent auction pulls all the fun together, for only $40 per person.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Richter and Sysco for this meaningful event,” Debbie Zabica, Red Cross Hill Country chapter executive director, said. “The support from our sponsors and attendees will enable us to continue providing essential services that make a real difference in the lives of Hill County residents.”
The event will raise funds for the Hill Country chapter, which serves 19 counties including Gillespie, Llano, Mason, Kendall, Kerr, Bandera, and Blanco counties.
The Hill Country chapter’s programs include disaster response, Home Fires Campaign, training services and services to the Armed Forces. In 2023 the Hill Country chapter assisted families suffering from a disaster, responded to home fires, and installed free smoke alarms.
The American Red Cross also helps people take swift action to save lives during emergencies.
“We’re honored to sponsor ‘Corks and Compassion’ and contribute to the vital work of the Hill County Red Cross,” Joi Sanders, co-owner of Richter Boerne, said. “Events like these exemplify the power of community coming together to support one another, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”
