Boerne boys go 4-1 at baseball tourney

The Boerne High boys posted a 4-1 mark at the San Antonio Baseball Classic last weekend.

BHS improved to 8-3 overall and opened district play Tuesday at Bandera. They’ll play in their final regular-season tournament of the year this weekend in San Marcos.

BHS opened the tourney with a 6-3 win over Socorro last Thursday.

Ryan Hooper doubled and singled and picked up an RBI, Jace Preston hit 2 singles, while Reese House, Grant Tamplet and Jackson Grimes all singled.

Preston drove in 2 runs and Walker Hill plated 2 runs.

Dylan Perez went 5 innings and picked up the win after he struck out 5, while Braden Ramirez threw 2 frames and fanned 3.

Up next, the Hounds defeated Kingwood, 9-4, behind 8 hits. They scored 6 runs in the third to break open a tied game.

Dylan Perez tripled and scored, Reese House singled and scored twice, Hutson Hendrix hit 2 singles, while Grant Tamplet drove in 2 runs and scored once.

Jackson Grimes went 3 innings on the hill and fanned 4, while Eli Srp tossed 2 innings and sat down 2.

On Friday, the Hounds edged Clark in a close one, 10-9. BHS plated 6 runs in the third but the Cougars answered with 5 in the fourth, but couldn’t catch Boerne.

BHS knocked out 11 hits, including a triple from Dylan Perez. Walker Hill and Ryan Hooper both hit 2 singles, with Hooper picking up 2 RBI.

Jackson Grimes knocked out 2 hits and scored once, while Hutson Hendrix and Hill both scored twice.

Campbell Jackson went 2.2 innings on the hill, Grant Tamplet tossed an inning and was the pitcher of record when BHS took the lead so he picked up the win, while Braden Ramirez earned the save on 1.1 innings of work. The three combined for 7 Ks, with Jackson getting 4 of them.

Boerne suffered its only loss of the tourney to Hays after they were doubled up by the Rebels, 8-4. BHS was also outhit by Hays, 10-5.

Dylan Perez swung the bat well and finished with a home run and a double, scored twice and drove in 2 runs, while Reese House, Walker Hill and Ryan Hooper all singled. Hill and Hooper also scored once.

Thomas Puckett, Tanner Tuschinski and Colton Shaver all tossed in the game and combined for 8 Ks, with Tuschinski fanning 4.

The Hounds closed it with a slim win over Pioneer, 7-6.

Pioneer outhit BHS, 10-4, but also had 4 errors.

Dylan Perez doubled and drove in 2 runs, while Walker Hill, Brooks Perez and Grant Tamplet all singled.

Perez, Hutson Hendrix, Hill, Brooks Perez, Tamplet, Hudson McNew and Jace Preston all scored once.

McNew pitched, Preston tossed 3 innings and picked up the win and Eli Srp tossed one frame.
