Champion won its first three baseball games at the San Antonio Classic and then dropped its final two to finish the tourney at 3-2.
The Chargers are 8-3 overall and play in another tournament this weekend.
Champion opened with a 13-0, run-rule win over Marshall last Thursday and pushed in 4, 4, 2 and 3 runs in four innings.
AJ Grizzaffi and Aidan Smith both doubled, while Smith drove in 3 runs and Grizzaffi added a single, scored once and picked up 2 RBI.
Garland Whitehead and Cam Logan both plated 2 runs, while Sam Miller pushed in 2 runs.
Austin Garritano went 3 innings and picked up the win and Pearce Kelly tossed 2 frames.
Up next, the Chargers edged Stafford, 5-4. The Spartans scored single runs in the sixth and seventh frames to make it close.
Champion finished with 8 hits and had a double and 2 singles from Jordan Ballin, who scored once, while Sam Miller singled and doubled and picked up an RBI.
Cam Logan hit a single, walked, pushed in a run and scored twice.
Sawyer Smith went 5 innings on the bump and picked up the win after he fanned 4, walked 1 and gave up 3 runs.
AJ Grizzaffi tossed the final 2 frames and earned the save after he yielded 3 hits, fanned 3 and walked 1.
The Chargers returned to action Friday and picked up another blowout win over Winnsboro, 12-1.
Cam Logan recorded 3 hits, picked up 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Sam Miller doubled and drove in 5 runs, Evan Kuhl and Brock Browning both plated 3 runs, Garland Whitehead singled and scored 3 times, while Gage Goldberg finished with 2 singles and 2 RBI.
Matthew Booth went all 5 innings and gave up 7 hits, 1 earned run and sat down 6.
Later on Friday, the Chargers knocked out 6 hits but didn’t score a run in a 4-0 loss to Central Catholic.
Jordan Ballin, Garland Whitehead, Cam Logan, Sam Miller, Quinn Grable and Owen Kuhl all singled.
Aidan Smith went 5 innings and gave up 5 hits, 3 runs, struck out 2 and walked 2.
Jacob Schwope tossed the final 2 frames and yielded 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and fanned 4.
The Chargers were also shutout by Victoria East, 8-0, to close out the tourney.
Champion was held to 2 hits, singles from Garland Whitehead and Owen Kuhl.
Jackson Melanson went 5 innings on the hill, Whitehead tossed 1.1 frames and Pearce Kelly closed it out. Melanson struck out 7.
