Boerne Champion closed out the regular season in girls soccer on Thursday by defeating Buda Johnson, 4-0.
Thursday’s match didn’t affect Champion’s district standing at all since it wrapped up the No. 2 seed in District 26-5A the previous week.
The Lady Chargers open the playoffs Friday against Georgetown at San Marcos Stadium at 7 p.m.
Champion got on the board early in Thursday’s match after Addison Huber scored a goal on an assist from Mya Serda just 81 seconds into the match. Mack Arendall tacked on another first-half goal and the Chargers took a 2-0 lead into the break.
Once the second half began, Huber found the back of the net once more midway through to make it 3-0. Later in the half, Arendall also connected on her second goal of the match with the assist going to Skyleigh Arnold to make it 4-0 with 10 minutes left in the contest.
Lola Vaughan and Audrey Riordan were both in goal for the Chargers and combined for the shutout. Champion outshot Johnson, 14-6 (11-1 shots on goal) and took 10 corners compared to just 1 for the Jaguars.
