Champion posted a 4-1 mark at the Northside ISD Tournament last weekend and stands at 5-1 overall.
The Chargers were off until this weekend when they play in the S.A. Baseball Classic.
Champion defeated Sotomayor to open the NISD tourney, 10-4, behind 14 hits. The Chargers started strong and scored 7 in the first.
Sam Miller tripled and singled, Cameron Logan doubled and singled and Evan Kuhl doubled. Garland Whitehead hit 3 singles and drove in 2 runs and Owen Kuhl also had 2 singles.
Jordan Ballin, Brock Browning and Andrew Harrison all scored twice.
Matthew Booth picked up the win and Pearce Kelly also tossed in the game.
Champion’s only loss came to Central Catholic, 5-1. Cameron Logan tripled and scored their only run. Garland Whitehead hit 2 singles and picked up their only RBI.
Jackson Melanson and Andrew Grizzaffi both tossed in the game.
Up next, the Chargers defeated Madison, 6-3, and scored 5 of their 6 in the top of the sixth.
Jordan Ballin recorded 3 of their 6 hits, scored a run and collected 3 RBI. Garland Whitehead hit 2 singles and scored once.
Austin Garritano picked up the win and Jacob Schwope also threw in the game. Schwope fanned 5.
From there, the Chargers run ruled MacArthur, 10-0, behind 10 hits.
Cameron Logan finished with 3 hits, Evan Kuhl had 2 singles and Brock Browning doubled.
Andrew Garritano and Jordan Ballin both scored twice.
Sawyer Smith went the distance and earned the win in 7 innings of work after he fanned 5, didn’t walk a batter and gave up just 2 hits on 69 pitches.
Champion closed out the tourney with an 8-2 win over Sharyland. The Chargers scored in bunches and plated 4 in the first and 4 in the third.
Evan Kuhl finished with 2 of their 7 hits, which were all singles. Gage Goldberg drove in 2 runs and singled and scored.
Aidan Smith went 3.1 innings on the hill and recorded the win, while Garland Whitehead threw 1.2 frames.
