Charger softball plays at NEISD tourney, mashes Memorial

Boerne Champion was entered in the NEISD Softball Tournament last weekend and then visited Memorial Tuesday.

The Chargers played four games at the tourney and went 1-2-1. They defeated Memorial to stand at 6-5-2 overall.

Vs. Memorial

Champion defeated Memorial 12-0 in 10 innings and scored 9 of those runs in the fourth.

They had 12 hits in the game, including a double and single by Dakota Salazar, while T Tucker and Mylie Parker both knocked out 2 singles each.

Tucker scored 3 runs, while Salazar and Jace Bendele both scored 2. Parker, Salazar and Lilian Ritchie all drove in 2 runs each.

Parker picked up the win from the circle and only gave up 4 hits, 1 walk and sat down 9.

NEISD tourney

The Chargers opened with a 14-5 setback to Taft to open.

Ryleigh LaRue hit a home run for Champion, Lillian Ritchie had 2 hits, while Jaycee Bendele and Dakota Salazar both singled.

Salazar scored twice, while Torin Tucker, LaRue and Benedele all plated 1 run.

Mylie Parker and Lillian Ritchie both tossed in the game with Ritchie striking out 4.

Champion beat up Brackenridge to get their one win at the tourney, 17-0. They had 4 hits and took 16 walks.

The Chargers scored 3 in the first and 14 in the second.

Torin Tucker, Dakota Salazar and Lillian Ritchie all scored 3 runs, while Bella Mamadaliyev had 2 of the team’s hit and also scored twice.

Ritchie picked up the win from the circle in 3 innings and gave up 3 hits and fanned 6.

Reagan had a big inning against Champion in its next game and defeated the Chargers 13-2 with 8 of those runs coming in the third.

Both had 10 hits, but Champion finished with 8 errors.

Lillian Ritchie and Torin Tucker both doubled and singled, with Ritchie picking up 2 RBI, while Mylie Parker and Abby Brehmer knocked out 2 singles each.

Dakota Salazar and Parker plated 1 run each.

Parker went 2.1 innings in the circle and Brehmer tossed 1.2 frames in the game that went 4 innings.

In its final contest, the Chargers tied with LEE, 7-7. Both teams also had 7 hits apiece in the game.

Champion scored all 7 in the first, but couldn’t score after that.

Marlena Spurrier homered and drove in 3 runs, while Mylie Parker doubled, picked up 2 RBI and scored.

Lillian Ritchie went 3 innings in the circle and Abby Brehmer finished up the final 2 frames.
