The Boerne High soccer teams kicked off the second round of soccer play earlier this week against Fredericksburg and both Greyhound squads picked up shutout wins.
The BHS girls hosted Fred Monday and blanked the Billies, 3-0 while the boys were at Fredericksburg Tuesday and earned a win by the same score of 3-0.
Varsity Girls
The Boerne girls dominated possession and kept the ball on the Fredericksburg end of the field, but only had a 1-0 lead to show for it late in the match.
However, the Lady Greyhounds tallied two goals in the final 15 minutes to pull away.
Isabella Pettet had the first goal for BHS and the 1-0 lead held until late.
Sophia Namvar gave the Boerne girls some breathing room with a goal in the 65th minute.
With 2:52 left Amelia Cohoon knocked one in to the left corner for another insurance goal to cap the scoring.
The Lady Hounds are 14-1-2 overall and 4-1-1 in district.
Varsity Boys
The Boerne boys move their district win streak to 43 straight victories and are 13-0 overall and 6-0 in district.
Boerne’s 3-0 win against the Billies is their fifth straight shutout in district.
Brett Hettie recorded the team’s first goal on a penalty kick and has tallied a goal in four straight matches.
Elian Arreola knocked in the second goal on a Hettie assist and the Liam Griffiths closed out the scoring on a Caleb Benchoff assist.
Griffiths has scored in three straight matches.
BHS coach Michael Strong said his team is a little banged up as they head down the final stretch run.
