Spring Break
The Boerne Independent School District will take its spring break the week of March 11. Regular library programming for children will not take place that week.
However, on Saturday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m., Miss Constance will host a lively leprechaun story time at the Herff Farmhouse at 33 Herff Road.
Just because most programs aren’t taking place that week doesn’t mean the Youth Department will be closed bring your little ones all week long so they can play with our toys that spark imagination, and of course read books that will delight them.
Solar eclipse glasses available March 11
Starting March 11, the library will start handing out the special glasses needed to safely view the rare solar eclipse, which takes place on April 8.
We will provide up to five pairs of glasses per family. They are free, but we ask that you respect others and allow them to acquire glasses, too.
We’re happy to provide them to as many people as we can in the community. The staff are also excited to witness this special April event.
Free tax help
Our free tax preparation, hosted by the AARP Tax Aide Foundation in partnership with the library, has once again been an incredibly popular service to the community and beyond.
The amazing volunteers, who have served in the Boerne area for about 30 years, have already prepared 467 people’s taxes. As always, it’s a pleasure working with the volunteers, because the library believes strongly in their mission.
We are nearly out of appointment times but call us to see if we can still add you to our list. Tax Day is April 15.
‘Live!’ series resumes
Join us from 7-9 p.m. March 21 for an unforgettable evening of soul-stirring melodies and heartwarming tales as Texas troubadour George Ensle takes the stage.
With a blend of folk and Americana, his songs are woven with wit, wisdom and just the right amount of grit, offering a glimpse into life’s highs and lows with an unwavering sense of hope.
We offer a monthly concert as part of our “Live! at the Library” series on the third Thursday of each month. Be sure and bring a picnic dinner and comfy seating.
After-school party for teens
It’s game day on March 21, from 4-5:30 p.m., as the library’s games committee will host its first game event just for teens ages 11-17.
We love alliteration, so this party is all about the letter “B.” We’ll bowl, play bingo, listen to some beats, and eat hamburgers and hotdogs in some buns. Our event is free, with no registration required.
African violets sale
Come enjoy the unique beauty of the African Violet on April 5 and 6. The Magic Knight African Violet Society hosts this annual free event, which takes place at the library, to showcase the blooms and well as sell them to visitors.
You’ll also be able to consult with expert violet growers to learn their magic tricks for creating the little beauties. Make plans to stop by and enjoy this fantastic showcase while you can.
Library closure
