Bandera played the Boerne boys basketball team tough, but not tough enough after the Greyhounds prevailed Tuesday in Bandera to close out the regular season.
The Greyhounds won the contest, 52-47, and conclude district play at 12-0. Boerne is 29-5 overall and opens the playoffs Monday against Cuero.
Boerne’s district win streak moves to 49 and will be put on hold until the next school year when look to make it 50 with their first district contest in the 2024-25 school year.
In Tuesday’s game, the Greyhounds had three in double digits after Casen Hoegemeyer finished with 15 points and hit three 3-pointers, Nic Hernandez scored 12 and made two 3s, while Sam Holland tallied 11 and knocked down a 3.
Jaxon Baize and Hutson Hendrix netted 5 points apiece, Noa Sanchez hit a 3 for 3 points and Luke Fox made a free throw.
Hoegemeyer was also Boerne’s top rebounder with 6, while Hendrix grabbed 5 boards and Holland snagged 4 rebounds.
Holland and Fox both dished out 3 assists, Hoegemeyer came up with 2 steals, while Baize and Hendrix both had 2 steals as well.
