Boerne boys soccer beats Bandera, 5-0

Boerne handled the Bandera Bulldogs Monday night in a boys district soccer match at Champion.

The Greyhounds won 5-0 and are still perfect this year at 10-0 overall. BHS is 3-0 in district and has now won 40 straight district matches.

Boerne was at Canyon Lake Friday and visits Wimberley Tuesday.

Brett Hettie tallied two goals and also assisted on another in Monday’s match.

Elian Arreola took a rebound and knocked it in for a goal, while Austin Vecino scored on a penalty kick, while Jarrett Ibarra scored a goal as well.

Hettie assisted the Ibarra goal, while Hudson Stevens assisted on one of the Hettie goals.

Boerne’s district win streak started after they lost to Fredericksburg 2-0 on Feb. 21, 2020, which means the streak has stretched over five seasons. The Hounds closed the spring of 2020 with three district wins before COVID ended everybody’s season. The following year, the Greyhounds went 10-0 and then in 2022 and 2023 they swept their district with records of 12-0 to take the streak to 37. Boerne won its first three district games this year to take the streak to 40 heading into Friday.
