Cats clipped by Yellowjackets, enter playoffs as No.

Comfort hosted Llano Tuesday night in boys basketball for their regular-season finale and the Yellowjackets won.

Llano claimed the 68-44 victory to drop Comfort to 5-5 in district and 19-13 overall. The Bobcats will be the No. 3 seed out of District 5-3A and will play the 2nd seed out of District 6-3A. That was determined on Friday as Wall and San Angelo TLCA are tied and played it out to break the tie.

In Tuesday’s game, Comfort kept pace with Llano for a while and the Yellowjackets were leading 19-16 after one quarter.

Llano again hit for 19 in the second, while the Cats slowed down and scored 11 to put Comfort in a 38-27 deficit at halftime.

The Yellowjackets were in double digits all four quarters and tallied 15 in the third and fourth periods, while Comfort hit 10 in the third and mustered 7 in the final stanza.

Llano shot 54 percent from the field, while Comfort did well from 2-point range but struggled from the outside.

The Cats were 14 for 28 from 2-point range but only shot 2 for 20 from the 3-point line.

Jovani Zapata was the only Comfort player in double digits with 12 points, Jaydin Steward tallied 9, Santos Hernandez and Joel Lozano both netted 8, Jared Valadez added 4, Terick Rodriguez scored 2 and Daniel Adams hit a free throw.

Steward grabbed a team-high 5 rebounds, Zapata dished out 5 assists and Lozano came up with 6 steals.
