The Greater Comfort Area Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 14 announced the appointment of Dr. Charlie Hueber as its new executive director.
With an extensive background in higher education and community engagement, Hueber brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new role.
Before joining the Comfort chamber, Hueber was the chief student affairs officer and dean of students at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. During his tenure, he provided oversight for a wide range of programs, including athletics, student activities, Greek life, judicial affairs, residence life, counseling, and health and wellness.

We look forward to working together to achieve our shared goals and strengthen our community.”
Beyond his work at Schreiner, Hueber has been involved in national and local organizations, including serving as the Texas State Director for the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators and leading the Division of Small Colleges annual leadership workshop.
Locally, he has contributed to organizations such as the American Red Cross, city of Kerrville’s Parks and Recreation Board, Kiwanis Club and currently serves as the chair-elect of the United Way.
Hueber holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and kinesiology, a master’s degree in counseling and psychology, and a doctoral degree in education from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
His primary areas of research and interest include social integration, strategic planning, and leadership programming.
In his new role as executive director, he will focus on the economic welfare and development of the community, continued support of entrepreneurs and tourism and event promotion. He is excited to collaborate with chamber members to support the growth and success of local businesses in Comfort.
