BOERNE — Curington Elementary, Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary and Herff Elementary in the Boerne Independent School District have been selected by The Flippen Group as Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools nominees for the 2023-24 school year.
The winning schools will be announced at the end of April.
National Showcase Schools are chosen annually through a rigorous selection process that includes measuring key performance indicators, gathering campus data, and surveying staff and students.
“To once again have three schools selected as National Showcase School nominees is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the teachers and staff at Curington, Fair Oaks Ranch, and Heff,” Dr. Kristin Craft, Boerne ISD superintendent, said.
“Each campus has shaped its own unique culture, which creates the perfect learning environment for our students. I thank the campus administration, teachers and staff, for going above and beyond for our students and families,” Craft said.
Boerne Elementary first opened its doors in 1976, renamed Curington Elementary in 1986. Curington has earned the National Showcase School distinction three years in a row.
Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary, a National Showcase School for five consecutive years, first opened in 1995 and serves students who reside in parts of Kendall, Comal and Bexar counties.
Herff, one of BISD’s newest schools, opened in 2019. It was named a National Showcase School for the first time last year.
Capturing Kids’ Hearts celebrates campuses where educators are exceeding expectations and creating an environment where students feel safe, connected and eager to learn, according to a Boerne ISD release.
