Boerne Champion picked up a big win in girls soccer Friday night at Smithson Valley in a district match.

The Lady Chargers tallied a goal in the final minute to edge the Lady Rangers, 2-1.

Champion improves to 5-1 in district and is 6-6 overall. The Lady Chargers will be home to host two matches this week. They welcomed Seguin Tuesday and then tangle with Wagner Friday at Charger Field.

Smithson Valley took the early lead Friday after they scored on a penalty kick, but Champion recorded the final two goals for the win.

Carsyn Bradley tied it up on the assist from Lily Alejo to make it 1-1.

The Chargers put pressure on Smithson Valley and drew a foul in the box with only 35 seconds left on the clock. Jayme Harrell took the shot for the Chargers and went up and right with the ball and knocked it past the Rangers goalie for the 2-1 lead.

The Rangers still had 35 ticks but weren’t able to tie it.
