Boerne Champion hosted Smithson Valley Friday night in a boys district soccer match and the Chargers and Rangers played to a draw.
Champion scored first and then the Rangers tied it immediately after and that’s where it stayed, 1-1, until the final buzzer.
Deuces are wild for the Chargers after their district record is now 2-2-2. They are 7-2-2 overall and are on the road for two this week.
Champion visited Seguin Tuesday and travels to Wagner Friday.
The Chargers and Rangers went almost 70 minutes without a goal until Hayden Landis broke the stalemate on a breakaway.
Landis took the pass from teammate Jones Ferguson and converted to give Champion a 1-0 lead with 12:14 remaining in the match, but it didn’t take Smithson Valley long to answer.
Just 1:17 later, the Rangers knotted it up at 1-1 on a goal with 10:57 left on the clock.
After that, the Charger had a few chances but weren’t able to convert, leaving it deadlocked at 1-each.
