LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Troxclair accomplishments prove mailouts untruthful

Editor, Residents who live in Texas House District 19 have been receiving mailers about Rep. Ellen Troxclair that contain lies and fabrications about her, her stances and her accomplishments.

First, Ellen did not vote to raise her salary or pension — a glaring inaccuracy in one of the mailouts. There was no bill considered this session that would have done that.

There were two bills considered to increase judicial compensation which were both overwhelmingly approved by the House, but subsequently died. These bills made clear that any increase in district judge compensation would be decoupled from state representatives’ pensions. So, this notion that Troxclair voted to increase her pension is just not true.

2. Rep. Troxclair does not support anything related to Biden’s gun- grabbing. She is endorsed by the NRA and The Texas State Rifle Association because of her efforts to defend our Second Amendment. Her being “ anti- gun” is another claim that is entirely false.

3. Ellen followed through on her campaign promise to lower property taxes. I know this because my property taxes went down considerably.

The notion that Ellen voted to raise taxes, that’s another preposterous statement made by those who don’t want her re-elected.

What else has Ellen accomplished in just one year in Austin?

She was instrumental in saving women’s sports in Texas. She led the charge to protect our children from inappropriate gender surgeries and drag shows. She helped make sure retired teachers received a cost-of-living increase. She helped make voter fraud a felony in Texas.

She made sure Texas ended the COVID vaccine mandates. She joined with Governor Abbott to secure over $6 billion in border protection.

Ellen authored or coauthored several bills that passed, including a much needed District Court for Kendall County. Where her predecessor failed, she has succeeded.
