Shirley Rittimann
July 12, 1941 – March 18, 2022
Shirley Ann “Barta” Rittimann, resident of Boerne for 60 years, passed away peacefully the morning of March 18, 2022, after battling Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Fayette County, Texas, on July 12, 1941, she was the daughter of Alfred Barta and Esther “Vybiral” Barta. She graduated from Missouri City High School in 1959, and on June 11, 1960, married her love and partner for life, Jerry Rittimann.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. In her youthful years, she was a cheerleader and volleyball player. Throughout all of her life, she enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes, but especially loved being outside gardening. If you were looking for her, that’s where she could be found.
Her infectious smile and laughter were loved by all who knew her. She lived life to the fullest and cherished time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Rittimann, as well as her parents, Alfred and Esther “Vybiral” Barta. She is survived by her two children, Debbie “Rittimann” Pritko (husband J.P.) and Brian Rittimann (wife Suzanne); her grandchildren, Crystal “Pritko” Kucera (husband Curt), James Rittimann (wife Kaci) and Dean Rittimann (fiancé Taylor Schmidt); her great-grandchildren, Emily Ann and Braden Allen Kucera and Rhett Dean and Riggs Boehme Rittimann; her brother, Bob Barta (wife Mary); and many more loved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Elizabeth Davis (former owner), Tabitha (current manager) and the dedicated staff of Blossom Care Assisted Living for their love and care for Shirley. Gratitude is also extended to New Century Hospice for their commitment and unwavering love to all those served, especially to Shirley. And, finally, warm thanks to all the dear family and friends who kept Shirley and her family in their thoughts and prayers as she struggled with this disease.
