Darter-Bruce seeks seat on Boerne ISD trustee board

BOERNE — Boerne native Courtney Darter-Bruce will appear on the May 4 ballot in her quest to become the Place 3 representative on the Boerne Independent School District board of trustees.

After graduating from Boerne High School in 1998, Darter-Bruce received her bachelor’s degree in communications and business from Southwest Texas State University. She also competed as a student-athlete in track and cross country at Texas State.

Following graduation, she began her team sports sales and marketing career at Nike Timing and Vision in Austin.

In 2005 she moved back to Boerne with her husband, Chris, to live, work, and raise their family with their firstborn. Today, all four of their children attend and thrive in Boerne schools.

“It’s been my passion to actively be involved in the school district,” she said. “By taking an interest in my children’s education and becoming engaged in multiple roles within the district, I’ve gained a wealth of experience. “Most importantly, I’ve witnessed the intentionality of BISD, which is committed to providing our children with the best education in every way,” she said. “I believe my volunteer experiences will serve me well as a candidate for a board trustee.”

Darter-Bruce said she has had the honor of serving the district in the following capacities over the past decade: District education improvement committee; long-range steering committee; safety and security committee; strike force parent engagement committee; bond oversite committee; site-based committees; BISD Hall of Honor board member and inductee; BISD Boerne’s Best Alumni Association board member, Boerne Education Foundation board member, master facility plan focus group, Herff Elementary PTO co-president, Boerne Insider Talk Show co-host, and Greyhound athletic booster club board member-secretary.

“As a trustee, being a bridge builder for my constituents would be vital. I love bringing people together and empowering them to work as one team: The Boerne Team,” she said.

“We have excellent administrators, teachers, coaches, and staff who ‘team up’ to make us the best small school district in Texas. I aim to be a servant leader for our fantastic students, families, and BISD employees, who make us great.'

Holding family and community values dear to her heart, Darter-Bruce said she is motivated “to make a positive impact through dedication and hard work. By working together, we can ensure that every child in BISD continues to receive the best education possible.

“I am immensely proud of our school district and kindly request your support. I would be honored to work alongside other hard-working board members to continue carrying the baton toward our bright future. Together, we are better,” she said.
