‘Boerne Family Feud’ comes to BCT stage

Ever wanted to play Family Feud? Now’s your chance.

“Boerne Family Feud” hits the theater stage this weekend with two days of teams trying to find the best answers to the survey questions.

Boerne area first responders will square off, with six teams in three games on Friday and another six teams taking the stage Saturday, set for 7:30 p.m. both nights.

Teams already booked for competition include members of the Boerne Police Department, Boerne Fire Department, Boerne Fire Marshals, Boerne Emergency Medical Services Department, Fireman’s Fireworks, Boerne Community Theatre board members, and BCT Teen Troupe staff.

The high-energy, competitive evening will be hosted by Philip Chancellor, emcee and owner of 5150 Productions who donated his time and talents to the theater for the event.

The show follows the same script as the nationally televised edition. Six teams each night will face off Family-Feud style by answering questions or completing a sentence, trying to match the most common answers the public would give.

Each possible answer has an assigned point value and each team’s goal is to garner the most points by guessing the most popular answers.

“I have performed this show in corporate for over 20 years,” Chancellor said. “The biggest comment that is said to me is how surprised (participants) were about how this felt like actually being on the show. For many people this will be the closest thing you can get to doing it with Steve Harvey.”

The most entertaining part of the event, Chancellor said, is how the show transforms into a comedy show, based on contestant responses.

“It is one of my favorite performances to do in a live situation and I know everyone will love this,” added Chancellor. “I am quite sure this will start a tradition at the theater and (am) looking forward to who takes home our winning trophies.”

Diana Richardson, BCT social media marketer, said there will be some Boernebased questions thrown in, to give the contestants and audience a more local feel.

With a few team spots left open, Richardson said the public is invited to submit a team of five contestants, whether they be co-workers, family members, neighbors, or just life-long friends.

“Yes, we have an open invitation to businesses, families and groups,” she said. “We’re not asking for anything from them but their time. The people participating will be up on the stage; and we’re hoping their family and friends will be filling out the theater seats.”

Tickets for the reserved seating are $20 per person and available online — boernetheatre.org — or by calling the box office at 830-249-9166. Remaining tickets will be available at the door each night.
