The Geneva girls opened their district tournament Tuesday at home and cruised past Schertz John Paul II, 64-15.
Geneva is 24-3 overall and 9-0 in district. They played in the second round Friday at home against Hill County Christian.
A win there and the Eagles can get a bye until the tournament championship game.
Geneva didn’t waste any time taking control Tuesday and jumped out to a 34-2 lead by the end of the first quarter.
From there, the Eagles outscored JP II in the second 16-4 and held a 50-6 lead by the break.
Geneva then closed it out by winning the second half, 14-9.
Kyra Petty lead the Eagles with 23 points and 15 rebounds to go with 5 assists and 5 steals. Petty was 10 for 14 from the field for 71 percent and went 9 for 11 from 2-point range for 82 percent.
Maegan Riebel added 16 points and Madeline Egbert tallied 13 to make it three Eagles in double digits.
Hartlee Menn and Lindsay Lee both hit a 3 for 3 points each, while Suzie Nilsson, Grace Detterick and Hailey Kirchner all knocked in 2 points.
Riebel also tallied 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals, Morgan Howard came up with 3 steals, while Lee dished out 4 assists.
