Pieper was leading Champion 21-10 by the end of the first quarter, but the Chargers really struggled in the second period and only scored two points on a pair of free throws from Taylor Burk and fell behind by halftime, 36-12.

The Warriors took the third quarter, 13-8, but Champion fought to the end and won the final stanza, 12-10.

Champion may have struggled from the field, but they were very good at the free-throw line and went 15 for 18 for 83 percent.

Addison Darter led the team with 9 points and hit the team’s only 3s in the game, Kayla Ramirez tallied 7 points and was 3 for 4 at the line, Cris Ramon netted 6 and was 2 for 2 at the line, Hailey Winn scored 5 points and was 5 for 6 at the line, Taylor Burk made all four of her free-throw attempts and finished with 4 points and Abby Sommer was 1 for 2 at the line for one point.
