BHS soccer squads close out non-district with victories

The Boerne High boys soccer team was at its home away from home Monday when they hosted New Braunfels at Champion, while the Lady Hounds were on the road at Cornerstone to close out non-district.

The BHS girls are off until Tuesday when they open district at Fredericksburg, while the boys begin district play Monday at Charger Field against Fred.

Varsity Boys

Boerne High improved to 7-0 overall after they defeated the Unicorns, 4-1.

The Hounds tallied three goals in the first half for the 3-0 lead and were in control from there.

Gabe Sallick had the team’s first goal, followed by a Brett Hettie goal. From there, Shae Gonzales scored off a Liam Griffiths shot.

Boerne’s last goal occurred in the second half and came on another Gonzales – Griffiths connection after Griffiths scored off a Gonzales shot. Gonzales also assisted on the Sallick goal.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Greyhounds closed out their non-district schedule unbeaten after they whipped the Warriors, 4-1.

BHS improved to 10-0-1 and the goal they gave up to Cornerstone is only the second one this year.

Kailey Stringfellow had a strong match with 2 goals and an assist.

Molly Miller and Bella Pettett both knocked in single goals, while Avery Ukeiley and Sophia Harper recorded single assists as well.
