Boerne Champion continued district baseball action Tuesday night with a road trip to Dripping Springs and fell to the Tigers, 7-0.
Champion slips to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in district. The Chargers host Alamo Heights on Friday and are looking for its first win in 26-5A.
It was a tough loss for the Chargers who had 4 hits, compared to 5 for the Tigers, but Champion also had 5 errors in the game.
Drip had a fast start and scored in bunches. They plated 4 runs in the first and added 3 more in the fourth frame to get its 7 runs.
Champion put its first two runners on in the first but had a runner thrown out at home, ending its best chance to score on the night, while three Charger fielding errors and three Drip singles in the bottom of the first helped the Tigers score its 4 runs.
Two more errors, a walk, a single and a sac bunt in the fourth helped the Tigers push in 3 more runs for the 7-0 lead.
Aiden Pickett hit 2 singles, Josh Bowman doubled and Karson Kaiser singled to account for the four Champion hits.
The Chargers left 8 runners stranded on base and were struck out 13 times by three different Drip pitchers.
Cooper Marshall started on the hill for the Chargers and went 3.2 innings. He gave up 4 hits, fanned 7, walked 1 and all 7 runs surrendered were unearned.
Aaron Basham tossed the final 2.1 innings and yielded 1 hit, struck out 4, walked 2 and didn’t give up a run.
