The Boerne High boys basketball team moved its district win streak to 45 games after the Greyhounds defeated Navarro Tuesday night in Boerne, 89-41.
BHS improved to 8-0 in district and 25-5 overall. The Hounds visited Canyon Lake and host Fredericksburg on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds came out firing and knocked down four 3-pointers in the opening quarter, three by Sam Holland, on its way to a 28-4 first-quarter lead.
It was Navarro’s turn to heat up from the outside in the second after the Panthers drained six 3s in the quarter, five of them from Caleb Standlee, who tallied 20 points in the game after hitting six total 3-pointers.
The Panthers outscored the Hounds in the second, 26-20, but hardly put a dent in Boerne’s lead. BHS up 48-26 at the break.
The Greyhounds blew game open in the third by taking the quarter, 24-2, and the Boerne lead ballooned to 72-28.
In that third quarter, BHS hit five 3s, three from Casen Hoegemeyer who had points in the period. After that, Boerne closed it winning the fourth quarter, 17-13.
Hoegemeyer finished with 15 points, Nic Hernandez had three 3s and tallied 17 points with 11 coming in the opening quarter, while Holland netted 29 points and swished in five 3s in the game.
Hutson Hendrix netted 9 points, Jaxon Baize added 6, Noah Patton recorded 4 points, Luke Fox chipped in with 3, while Noa Sanchez, Gavin Hankins and Hank Hendrix all scored 2 2. .
