A Boerne teen faces three felony counts after confessing to Boerne police he called in the bomb threat-swatting incident at Boerne Champion High School on Wednesday.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday, Boerne police detectives served a search warrant at the juvenile’s home in Bexar County, Perez said.
At about 3:30 p.m. Friday, the 16-year-old former Boerne ISD student “was arrested and is being charged with three felonies: false alarm or report, terroristic threat and terrorism,” Boerne Police Chief Steve Perez said during a Friday press conference.
“It’s important for our students, staff and parents that were directly affected by this hoax, to know the person responsible for this frightful day has been apprehended,” he said.
Perez said a search of the teen’s residence sought electronics — phones, computers, “anything we felt was used to push out that message.”
Perez said the investigation began immediately. Detective received information about a possible suspect that eventually led to obtaining a search warrant.
Perez said the suspect has been out of the Boerne ISD school system for about a year.
