A Boerne Independent School District high school coach was arrested Sunday morning on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

A Kendall County Detention Center press release Sunday listed Christopher Slay as having been booked at 5:38 a.m. for DWI.

Christopher Slay is Scott Slay, Boerne Champion High School world geography teacher and head coach of Champion’s water polo and both high school’s swim and dive teams.

Boerne ISD officials Sunday confirmed they cannot discuss personnel matters; officials will issue a direct statement Monday.

Slay, in his first year as coach, led the Champion water polo team to a 24-3 record and a silver medal in the state meet in October. This was the team’s second straight second-place finish at the state meet.
