The Boerne Champion boys soccer team was bumped from the playoff picture with Tuesday’s loss at Kerrville Tivy.
Champion fell to the Antlers, 3-1, and is 6-9-4 overall and 5-8-2 in district. The Chargers end the regular season Friday at home against Buda Johnson, 7:15 p.m.
Champion needed to win both matches this week to have a chance at the postseason but Tuesday’s setback to the Antlers eliminated the Chargers.
Drip, Heights and Canyon are in the top three spots, while Kerrville (7-5-3) slides into fourth place and Lehman (6-5-4) is in fifth with one match left, both ahead of the Chargers (5-8-2). This Friday, Tivy plays Drip and Lehman plays Veterans Memorial.
Tuesday’s match was tied at halftime, 1-1, but an injury in the centerback really hurt the Chargers and allowed the Antlers to score two second-half goals.
Crew Pulliam had Champion’s only goal of the night on the assist from Camden Vicknair.
