Comfort Deer suffers third straight setback in 5-3A

The Comfort girls traveled to Llano Friday night for a district basketball game and suffered their third straight 5-3A loss.

Llano won the contest 41-23 and drops the Deer to 2-5 in district. They are 8-19 overall and traveled to Blanco Tuesday to continue league play.

Comfort kept it close through the first half but the Lady Yellowjackets pulled away in the second half.

Llano was up 8-6 after one and then out- scored the Deer in the second 7-5 to take a 15-11 lead into halftime.

The Lady Yellowjackets made their move in the third and took the quarter 13-6 to open up a 28-17 lead.

It was the exact same thing in the fourth with Llano again outscoring Comfort 13-6, just like in the third, to seal the victory.

Rachel Adams paced the Deer with 15 of their 23 points and was also their leading rebounder with 6 boards.

Jael Hernandez, Tindall Ahrens and Hannah Adams all scored 2, while Cynthia Leos and Katie Haffner both hit one free throw each.

Haffner came up with 3 steals and Hernandez had 4 assists.
