A short-handed Boerne Champion girls basketball team visited Kerrville Tivy Friday night for a district basketball game and suffered a double-digit loss.
The Lady Antlers won the contest, 59-45, but Chargers coach Jason Sanders said his team gave a great effort despite not being at full strength.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our effort despite being down two starters,” Sanders said.
Champion slips to 10-22 overall and 3-8 in district. After the Tivy game, the Chargers had three games left on the schedule.
Champion hosted Pieper Tuesday and visit Smithson Valley Friday. They close out their season next Tuesday at home against Seguin.
The Lady Chargers are currently sixth in district and out of the playoff mix.
